Chia, a small hamlet of Domus de Maria, in the south-west of the island, was in the past an important Phoenician and later Roman center, called Bathia, of which the remains are still preserved today. Among the unearthed ruins, there are the remains of a Punic tophet and the ancient road that connected it to the important city of Nora. The bay is then dominated by a 17th century coastal tower built by the Crown of Spain.
Chia beach, characterized by golden sand and mainly by shallow waters, has always been loved by families with children.
On the back of this stretch of coastline is the Spartivento pond, a precious natural oasis, also the habitat of numerous animal species.
