Main center of mining archeology.
Carbonia, the most populous city in the southwest of the island, also called Sulcis, is the main center of the beautiful mining archeology. Built in 1938 to accommodate the families of miners, today it has about 30,000 inhabitants. Ideal starting point to discover the many mines now abandoned but open to the public and the museums dedicated to them.
The coast will amaze you with wonderful sunsets and breathtaking natural views. The archaeological site on Mount Sirai is also beautiful and worth a visit.
