Major center of mining archaeology
Carbonia, the most populous city in the island's southwest, also called Sulcis, is the main center of beautiful mining archaeology. Built in 1938 to accommodate mining families, it now has about 30,000 inhabitants. It is an ideal starting point for discovering the many mines now disused but open to the public that can be found in the area and the museums dedicated to them.
The coast will amaze you with wonderful sunsets and breathtaking natural views. The archaeological site on Mount Sirai is also beautiful.
